Local City Council Candidate Sparks Outrage with Fat-Shaming Instagram Post

Hector Marin, a City Council candidate in Santa Cruz District 2, turned heads this week when he made a post on Instagram where the candidate fat shamed followers. The post which stated “Only hot people can wear tank tops sorry :(“ accompanied by a selfie of Marin listening to the song “Fuck that shit”, has been criticized for its insensitivity.

Marin’s remarks have not only offended followers but have also raised concerns about the candidate’s attitude towards body image and inclusivity. This incident is yet another example of a lack of respect and professionalism from individuals seeking public office in Santa Cruz.
